*위키백과 무하마드 알리(Muhammad Ali, 1942년 1월 17일 ~ )는 미국의 전직 권투 선수다. 켄터키 주 루이빌에서 태어났으며, 1964년 맬컴 엑스 등이 이끄는 이슬람운동에 가담하기 전까지 이름은 캐시어스 마셀러스 클레이 주니어(Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.)였다. 알리는 1975년 이슬람으로 개종했다.키 191cm, 팔길이 200cm. 아마추어 복서로서 복싱을 시작해, 로마 올림픽 라이트헤비급 금메달을 땄다. 프로복서로 전향한 뒤에도 패배 전적이 없는 경기로 헤비급 타이틀을 획득했고, 그후 3차례에 걸쳐 타이틀 획득을 하여 통산 19차례 방어에 성공하는 좋은 성적을 거두었다. 1964년 2월 25일 소니 리스턴과 대결에 앞서 ‘나비처럼 날아서 벌처럼 쏘겠다’는 호언장담을 한 것으로 유명하다. 또한 베트남 전쟁당시 징집영장이 발부되자 ‘베트콩과 싸우느니, 흑인을 억압하는 세상과 싸우겠다’는 말을 남기며 양심적 병역거부를 실천했고, 인종차별 반대투쟁인 흑인 민권운동에 활발히 참여하기도 했다. 소니 리스턴과 두 차례 대결에서 KO승으로 확실한 헤비급 챔피언으로의 발판을 다졌으며, 그 이후로 플로이드 패터슨, 조 프레이저, 조지 포먼, 켄 노턴 등과 승부를 겨뤘다. 무하마드 알리는 1999년 스포츠 일러스트레이티드지와 BBC가 선정한 세기의 스포츠맨으로 선정되었으며, 복싱 역사상 위대한 챔피언 중 한 명으로 불리고 있다. 실제로 그의 프로복싱 통산전적은 56승(37KO)5패이다. 1980년대 초부터 파킨슨병을 앓기 시작해 현재는 거동이 불편한 상태이며, 딸 라일라 알리도 권투 선수로 활동하고 있다.

휴스턴은 1963년 미국 뉴저지에서 가스펠 가수인 씨씨 휴스턴(Cissy Houston)의 딸로 태어났다. 솔의 여왕 아레사 프랭클린이 그녀의 대모(godmother)였다.휴스턴은 어머니를 따라 교회에서 성가대 활동을 하기 시작해 10대에는 저메인 잭슨 등 유명가수의 코러스로 활동했다. 그러다 19세에 한 클럽에서 노래를 부르다 유명 음반제작자인 클라이브 데이비스의 눈에 띄어 가수로 본격 데뷔하게 된다.
